Privacy policy

Hollywood Surgery is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of your personal and health information. We manage your information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and the privacy requirements of the RACGP Standards for general practices. This policy explains how we collect, use, store, and disclose your information, and how you can access it.

The information we collect

We collect the information needed to provide you with safe, high-quality care, including:

How we collect it

Wherever practical, we collect information directly from you, in person or over the phone. With your consent, or where the law allows, we may also collect information from others involved in your care, such as other treating doctors, specialists, hospitals, pathology and radiology providers, and your My Health Record. Where you are unable to provide information yourself, we may collect it from a parent, guardian, carer, or responsible person.

How we use and disclose your information

We use and disclose your information to provide and manage your health care. This includes:

We will not use or disclose your information for any other purpose without your consent, unless we are required or authorised to do so by law (for example, mandatory reporting or a court order). We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for marketing.

Overseas disclosure

We do not routinely send your information overseas. Some of the software and secure-storage providers we rely on may hold data on their servers; where this occurs, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with this policy and Australian privacy law.

This website

This website does not collect personal or health information. It has no contact forms, online booking, patient logins, accounts, or tracking and analytics. Appointments and enquiries are handled by phone, and the site is served over a secure (HTTPS) connection.

How we store and protect your information

Your records are held in secure electronic and, where applicable, physical systems. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification, or disclosure. All staff are bound by confidentiality obligations as a condition of their employment.

Data breaches

We comply with the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme. If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm, we will notify the affected individuals and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) as required by law.

Accessing and correcting your information

Changes to this policy

We review this policy regularly and may update it from time to time. The current version is always available on this page.

Social media policy

The Hollywood Surgery does not use Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, Pinterest or any other forms of social media.

The Hollywood Surgery does not have a policy on whether staff members, are allowed to use social media or not. We do however expect all staff members who use social media to be respectful and uphold the patient confidentiality agreement at all times. Even cryptic Social Media posts are not allowed if they are relating to a patient in any way. Patient confidentiality is extremely important and breaking that in anyway can result in instant dismissal.

Any work related social media posts (non patient related) must have the permission and the pre-approval of Dr Wong and / or practice management staff before posting online.
